About HP Screen Recorder

HP Screen Recorder enables you to capture movies of what is displayed on your screen. It integrates with HP ALM to create defects with attached screen recordings that illustrate the problem.

 

HP Screen Recorder for ALM 12.00

The HP Screen Recorder for ALM 12.00 is backwards-compatible with earlier versions. Alternatively:

  • If you are working with ALM 11.5x and below, you can download the recorder using the link for ALM 11.5x.
  • If you are working with ALM 11.00 and below, you can download the recorder using the link for ALM 11.00.
  • If you are working with Quality Center 10.00, you can download the recorder using the link for Quality Center 10.00.

 

 

Installation and Usage Instructions

  1. Prerequisites
    1. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and  Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0
    2. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 32 bit Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update
  2. To use the HP Screen Recorder with side-by-side versions of Quality Center 10.00 and HP ALM 12.00, deploy the necessary Quality Center 10.00 client files, and add/edit a site parameter:
    1. Launch Quality Center 10.00 from your Web browser.
    2. Click the Site Administration link.
    3. In Site Administration, add the parameter DISABLE_EXTENDED_STORAGE and set its value to N. For details, see the HP Quality Center 10.00 Administrator Guide.
    4. Close the Web browser.
  3. Click the HP ALM Screen Recorder link below to download and install this add-in on your HP ALM client machine. To install this add-in, you must log in with administrator privileges.
  4. When using a forward proxy, the proxy server credentials must be specified in the HP Screen Recorder Netword Settings and in either the Internet Explorer Connections options or the WebGate Customization tool. 
  5. Open HP Screen Recorder and connect to HP ALM. If the connection to the ALM Server requires web authentication, or if the connection is established via proxy, click the Network Settings button on the login screen and provide the relevant information. Note that the password in the web authentication section is not stored between runs. If external authentication is used, HP Screen Recorder automatically detects the relevant environment and provides the user with the required authentication.
  6. When you start HP Screen Recorder, when prompted to automatically begin recording, select Continuous mode recording. Alternatively, use the Record option to record only when needed.
  7. During recording, click the Stop button or choose Stop from the main menu. You can then select from options that enable you to view and edit the movie before attaching it to a new defect in HP ALM. For more information on using HP Screen Recorder, refer to the included Help file.

HP Screen Recorder for ALM 11.5x

The HP Screen Recorder for ALM 11.5x is backwards-compatible with earlier versions. Alternatively:

  • If you are working with ALM 11.00 and below, you can download the recorder using the link for ALM 11.00.
  • If you are working with Quality Center 10.00, you can download the recorder using the link for Quality Center 10.00.

 

 

Installation and Usage Instructions

  1. Prerequisites

    2. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 32 bit Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update

  1. Prerequisites: Install the HP Quality Center Connectivity add-in on your Quality Center client machine. For more information, refer to the Add-ins page, available from the Quality Center Help menu.
  2. Click the HP ALM Screen Recorder for Quality Center 10.00  link below to download and install this add-in on your HP ALM client machine. To install this add-in, you must log in with administrator privileges.
  3. Open HP Screen Recorder and connect to HP Quality Center.
